Terms of service

Last updated: May 11, 2026

Welcome to Déjà Décor.

These Terms of Service explain how our marketplace works, what we expect from buyers and sellers, and how we keep furniture rescue safe, clear, and trust-first.

By browsing, creating an account, submitting a listing, buying, selling, or using any part of dejadecor.eco or Déjà Décor’s services, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use Déjà Décor.

Second-hand should not feel like second-guessing. So we are keeping this as plain as possible.

1. What Déjà Décor is

Déjà Décor is a managed resale marketplace for quality pre-owned furniture and home pieces.

We help buyers and sellers connect through a more structured, safer, privacy-first process, including:

  • protected payments;
  • privacy-first handoffs;
  • on-platform coordination;
  • listing standards;
  • scheduled pickup from sellers;
  • white-glove delivery to buyers, where feasible and safe.

Our mission is rescue-first: to keep great furniture out of landfill and get it loved twice.

2. What Déjà Décor is not

Déjà Décor is not a regular classifieds site.

That means:

  • no buyer pickups;
  • no seller drop-offs;
  • no curb pickup;
  • no cash deals;
  • no private e-transfers;
  • no random meetups;
  • no “just swing by” exchanges.

This is not us being dramatic. This is how we protect privacy, safety, payment tracking, and the whole furniture rescue flow.

Déjà Décor does not manufacture the items listed on the marketplace. Most items are pre-owned and are owned by sellers until sold. We facilitate the marketplace, payment process, trust structure, and delivery coordination.

3. Who can use Déjà Décor

To use Déjà Décor, you must be able to enter into a legally binding agreement where you live.

You agree that the information you provide is accurate, complete, and up to date.

You are responsible for activity under your account. Please keep your login details safe and contact us right away if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

4. On-platform only

Déjà Décor works because the transaction stays on Déjà Décor.

Buyers and sellers agree not to move transactions, payments, pickup, delivery, or coordination off-platform.

This means you may not:

  • ask for or offer cash payment;
  • ask for or offer e-transfer payment;
  • exchange phone numbers or addresses to complete a transaction privately;
  • arrange private pickup or delivery;
  • bypass Déjà Décor’s checkout, payment, delivery, or support process.

Attempts to move a transaction off-platform may result in warnings, cancelled orders, removed listings, account limits, or account suspension.

Trust is the whole product. Off-platform chaos breaks the sofa spell.

5. Seller responsibilities

When you submit or manage a listing on Déjà Décor, you confirm that:

  • you own the item or are authorised to sell it;
  • the item is legal to sell;
  • the item is safe to move and use;
  • the listing is accurate, complete, and honest;
  • the photos show the real item;
  • the measurements are accurate;
  • the condition details are truthful;
  • any important flaws are disclosed;
  • pickup availability and access details are accurate.

Sellers must disclose anything that could reasonably affect a buyer’s decision, including:

  • scratches;
  • stains;
  • wobble;
  • structural issues;
  • repairs;
  • missing parts or hardware;
  • pet exposure;
  • smoke exposure;
  • odours;
  • material wear;
  • damage;
  • elevator, stair, parking, or access limitations.

If a buyer can reasonably say, “I would have wanted to know that before buying,” it should be disclosed.

Honesty is not optional. It is the rescue rule.

6. Listing standards and item acceptance

Déjà Décor may refuse, pause, edit, remove, or request more information for any listing that does not meet our standards.

We may reject items that create safety, hygiene, legal, delivery, or trust concerns, including items with:

  • pest or infestation risk;
  • strong mould or smoke odours;
  • unsafe structure;
  • unclear ownership;
  • inaccurate information;
  • undisclosed damage;
  • unsafe pickup or delivery conditions;
  • conditions that make the item unsuitable for resale.

We are here to rescue great furniture, not surprise problems.

7. Buyer responsibilities

Before buying, buyers are responsible for reviewing the full listing carefully.

That includes:

  • photos;
  • price;
  • dimensions;
  • condition notes;
  • disclosed flaws;
  • delivery information;
  • pickup and delivery limitations;
  • building access requirements.

Buyers should measure their space before checkout, including:

  • doorways;
  • hallways;
  • staircases;
  • elevators;
  • loading areas;
  • room dimensions;
  • ceiling height, where relevant;
  • condo, apartment, or building rules.

If anything is unclear, contact Déjà Décor before checkout.

Measure twice. Rescue once.

8. Protected payments

Buyers pay through Déjà Décor’s checkout.

Payments are processed by third-party payment providers. Déjà Décor does not store full payment card details on its own systems.

Protected payments are designed to help protect both sides of the transaction. In plain English: money moves carefully because furniture moves carefully.

Seller payout is generally released after the transaction is completed according to Déjà Décor’s process, including delivery confirmation and any applicable review or dispute period.

If there is a dispute, damage claim, cancellation, fraud concern, policy concern, or “not as described” issue, Déjà Décor may pause, hold, reduce, cancel, or reverse payout as reasonably necessary while the matter is reviewed.

9. Fees, commission, and delivery costs

Déjà Décor keeps the model simple.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • listings are free;
  • Déjà Décor charges a 10% Marketplace Commission on completed furniture sales;
  • the Marketplace Commission is paid by the seller and may be deducted from the seller payout;
  • delivery is charged to the buyer;
  • delivery is charged as a pass-through cost, with no Déjà Décor profit margin;
  • applicable taxes, fees, and delivery charges may be shown at checkout or in order communications.

Our fees help fund the rescue operation: marketplace systems, support, trust processes, payment handling, delivery coordination, listing standards, and the work required to make second-hand furniture feel less like chaos and more like common sense.

10. Delivery-only model

Déjà Décor is delivery-only by design.

Delivery may be coordinated through 49van or another professional delivery partner.

Delivery may include scheduled pickup from the seller and delivery to the buyer. Room-of-choice placement may be available where feasible and safe, depending on the item, building conditions, access, stairs, elevators, parking, and delivery partner requirements.

Delivery is the trust engine. It protects privacy, reduces awkward meetups, and keeps the process trackable.

11. Pickup and delivery access

Sellers agree to:

  • provide accurate pickup information;
  • provide realistic pickup availability;
  • make the item available at the scheduled pickup time;
  • ensure the item is ready to move;
  • remove personal belongings from the item;
  • provide accurate access notes, including stairs, elevators, parking, loading areas, building rules, tight hallways, or concierge requirements.

Buyers agree to:

  • provide accurate delivery information;
  • provide accurate access notes;
  • follow building rules;
  • book elevators or loading areas where required;
  • ensure someone is available to receive the item if required;
  • make the delivery area safe and accessible.

If pickup or delivery cannot be completed because information was inaccurate, access was unavailable, the item was not ready, the building rules were not followed, or conditions were unsafe, additional costs, delays, cancellation, or other resolution steps may apply.

Furniture is brave. Delivery crews still need accurate access.

12. Final sale, pre-owned condition, and no warranties

Déjà Décor specializes in pre-owned furniture and home pieces.

That means each item may have history, character, patina, previous use, or small imperfections.

Unless otherwise required by law, items are sold as-is and without warranties from Déjà Décor.

All sales are generally final once delivered, except where an item arrives damaged during delivery or is materially different from the listing.

Returns, refunds, or exchanges are not available for:

  • change of mind;
  • style preference;
  • buyer remorse;
  • colour variation caused by lighting, photography, or screens;
  • minor wear that was shown or described;
  • disclosed flaws;
  • size misjudgement;
  • an item not fitting through a doorway, hallway, staircase, elevator, room, or building access point;
  • delivery access issues caused by incorrect or incomplete information.

If your taste changes, the good news is simple: you may be able to list the item again on Déjà Décor and keep the piece in circulation.

Loved twice can become loved three times. We support that plot twist.

13. When something is wrong

If an item arrives damaged during delivery or is materially different from the listing, contact Déjà Décor as soon as possible and follow our Return and Refund Policy.

A “materially different” item means the issue is significant and was not clearly shown or described before purchase.

Examples may include undisclosed major damage, missing parts, structural instability, or a condition issue that would reasonably have affected the purchase decision.

Buyers must email info@dejadecor.eco within the timeframe stated in our Return and Refund Policy and include clear photos and a description of the issue.

Déjà Décor will review the situation and may offer a resolution such as repair coordination, partial refund, full refund, return coordination, transaction cancellation, or another fair outcome depending on the facts.

We choose long-term trust over short-term sales.

14. Cancellations

Cancellation options depend on timing and operational status.

If an order has not yet been scheduled for pickup or delivery, cancellation may be possible.

If pickup, delivery, or other operational work has already been scheduled or started, cancellation may be limited, and delivery costs or other incurred costs may not be refundable.

Déjà Décor may cancel an order if:

  • the seller is unavailable;
  • the item is unavailable;
  • the listing was inaccurate;
  • payment cannot be completed;
  • fraud or unsafe activity is suspected;
  • delivery cannot be completed safely;
  • platform rules were violated;
  • the transaction was moved or attempted to be moved off-platform.

We will communicate cancellation decisions as clearly as reasonably possible.

15. Reviews, photos, listings, and user content

You may submit content to Déjà Décor, including listing photos, descriptions, messages, reviews, support requests, and other information.

You agree that content you submit must be truthful, respectful, and lawful.

You may not submit content that:

  • is false or misleading;
  • infringes someone else’s rights;
  • includes private information that should not be public;
  • includes addresses, phone numbers, or private contact details in public areas;
  • is abusive, discriminatory, threatening, obscene, or harmful;
  • promotes off-platform transactions;
  • contains spam, malware, or unsafe links.

By submitting content, you give Déjà Décor permission to use, display, edit, reproduce, and share that content as needed to operate, support, improve, and promote the marketplace.

For example, Déjà Décor may use listing photos and descriptions to display an item, promote the marketplace, support a transaction, resolve a dispute, or showcase rescued furniture.

You can ask us to remove marketing use of your content where reasonably possible by contacting info@dejadecor.eco.

16. Community standards

Déjà Décor is a community of buyers, sellers, partners, and future Déjà Heros trying to do better by furniture and the planet.

Users agree to act respectfully and honestly.

You may not:

  • harass, threaten, or abuse anyone;
  • discriminate against anyone;
  • scam or attempt to scam anyone;
  • misrepresent an item;
  • list something you do not own or are not authorised to sell;
  • interfere with the platform;
  • scrape, copy, or misuse platform content;
  • upload malware, spam, or harmful content;
  • use Déjà Décor for illegal activity;
  • attempt to bypass fees, protected payments, or delivery coordination.

We may limit, suspend, or terminate accounts to protect users, transactions, delivery partners, sellers, buyers, and the integrity of the marketplace.

No mystery circus. No furniture fraud. No bad vibes in the rescue lane.

17. Third-party services

Déjà Décor may work with third-party service providers to operate the marketplace.

These may include:

  • Shopify;
  • marketplace or vendor-management tools;
  • payment processors;
  • payout providers;
  • delivery partners, including 49van or equivalent professional delivery partners;
  • email, analytics, customer support, fraud prevention, accounting, tax, legal, and operational tools.

Third-party services may have their own terms, privacy policies, rules, fees, timelines, and limitations.

Déjà Décor is not responsible for third-party systems, delays, outages, or actions outside our reasonable control, but we will work to support users when an issue affects a Déjà Décor transaction.

18. Déjà Heros and future services

Déjà Décor may introduce additional services in the future through Déjà Heros, such as photography, listing help, repair, refurbishing, styling, moving help, or other furniture rescue services.

Those services may have separate terms, pricing, booking rules, availability, and provider requirements.

Unless a service is clearly offered and confirmed through Déjà Décor, it is not included in a standard marketplace transaction.

Phase 2 dreams are exciting. Phase 1 promises stay precise.

19. Privacy

Your use of Déjà Décor is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

Déjà Décor is privacy-first by design. Seller addresses are not shown publicly and are not shared with buyers. Address and access information may be shared only as needed with delivery partners and service providers to complete the transaction.

For more details, please review our Privacy Policy.

Sell the piece, not your privacy.

20. Intellectual property

Déjà Décor’s name, logo, branding, website content, design, text, graphics, platform experience, and other materials are owned by Déjà Décor or used with permission.

You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or use Déjà Décor’s intellectual property without written permission, except as needed to use the marketplace normally.

The furniture gets a second life. Our brand assets do not get a surprise side hustle.

21. Platform availability

We work hard to keep Déjà Décor running smoothly, but we cannot guarantee that the platform will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

We may update, modify, pause, or discontinue parts of the platform from time to time.

We may also perform maintenance, fix bugs, test features, or make changes as the marketplace grows.

22. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Déjà Décor is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or economic losses, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost opportunity, loss of data, or business interruption.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Déjà Décor’s liability related to a transaction is limited to the amount paid or payable to Déjà Décor in connection with that transaction.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights or protections that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection laws.

23. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Déjà Décor harmless from claims, losses, damages, costs, expenses, or liabilities arising from:

  • your use of the platform;
  • your breach of these Terms;
  • inaccurate information you provide;
  • items you list, sell, or submit;
  • content you upload or share;
  • your violation of any law;
  • your violation of another person’s rights;
  • your attempt to move a transaction off-platform.

In plain English: if your actions create the problem, you may be responsible for the fallout.

24. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time as Déjà Décor grows, our services change, or legal and operational requirements evolve.

When we update these Terms, we will post the revised version on our website and update the “Last updated” date.

Continuing to use Déjà Décor after the updated Terms are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
